Natalie

Natalie

Certified & Licensed Veterinary Technician

Growing up on a working farm, Natalie’s youth was spent outdoors, tending to a multitude of animals. Back then, she thought she’d grow up to become a vet, but life had other plans and she ended up in an entirely different field. Over time, however, Natalie grew to miss working with animals and when that longing became too strong to ignore, she made the decision to follow her heart and return to her roots.

Natalie attended the University of WI-River Falls, where she earned a degree in biology. Following graduation, she spent 11 years working as a Certified Cytogenetic Technologist at the Mayo Clinic. Everything changed when Natalie began adopting sled dogs. Driven by a renewed sense of purpose, Natalie went back to school for Veterinary Technology, and the rest is history!

Clinically, Natalie enjoys the challenge of tailoring each individual patient’s sedation and anesthetic protocol, so everyone has a positive and safe experience when they have a procedure. She also loves being able to effectively manage pain for surgical procedures, arthritis, and age-related ailments, delivering much-needed relief to those who are unable to advocate for themselves.

Outside of the clinic, Natalie shares her home with her teenage son, a plethora of house plants, and her multitude of pets, including a kennel of Siberian Huskey sled dogs, two cats (Ramsey and Void), three geese, and many chickens. She also has four house dogs: German Shepherds Surge (a.k.a. Swamp Donkey GSD and Briar (a.k.a. Stompy Big Feets), a Great Pyrenees named Stella (a.k.a. Squishy White Thing), and a Siberian Husky named Cherry (a.k.a. Pretzel Kitty Dog).

In addition to raising sled dogs, Natalie’s other hobbies include knitting, spinning yarn, photography, gardening, and petting her animals.

Shelly

Shelly

Receptionist / Assistant / Evening Janitor

As a long-time client of Lakeview Veterinary Hospital, Shelly knew firsthand the quality and compassion the team here provides to our patients. When it came time for her to reenter the workforce, a position opened up that seemed like the perfect fit. As Shelly puts it, “any day spent with animals is a good day!”

Initially, Shelly came aboard as the after-hours janitor, but quickly worked her way up to part time receptionist and veterinary assistant. Professionally, Shelly loves greeting and getting to know our clients and patients and getting the opportunity to learn something new every day.

At home, Shelly and her husband, Chris, have two dogs and a cat. Daisy is stubborn but sweet and makes every day interesting. Peppa is on the go from the second she wakes up until she falls asleep from exhaustion. Simba enjoys being the only feline and isn’t shy about voicing his opinion.

Most of Shelly’s free time is spent with Chris, riding their side-by-sides, gardening, swimming, or traveling. The couple recently went on a cruise to Alaska and have also been to Mexico and Hawaii.

Brittany

Brittany

Certified Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist

Brittany has always had a strong connection with animals, but there’s one dog in particular who stands out. Swiper arrived at the clinic with severe injuries that required urgent medical attention. Not wanting to give up on this sweet soul, Brittany got to work raising funds to pay for Swiper’s lifesaving surgery, and eventually brought him home to join her family. The emotional experience and happy ending made her realize she was right where she needed to be!

After high school, Brittany attended Animal Behavior College in Florida. While there, she completed her internship here at Lakeview Veterinary Hospital and quickly became an integral part of the team. Professionally, Brittany enjoys being able to interact with our clients, getting to know their pets, and being part of caring for them. To her, there is nothing more rewarding!

At home, Brittany has several pets of her own, including four dogs (Nugget, Benny, Sophie, and Ralfy), three cats (Potato, Siracha, and Kirby), a bearded dragon, a hedgehog, and a bunny. When she’s not busy working, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family—two-legged and four.

Daniel

Daniel

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Daniel has always shared a special connection with animals—especially those of the feline variety! As soon as he was old enough to work, he knew that whatever job he took, it would have to be one that would allow him to work with animals. As a veterinary technician assistant, Daniel has discovered his passion and is enjoying every minute of it!

Daniel joined the Lakeview Veterinary Hospital team in 2022. He now works alongside his mother, Natalie, who is an RVT. Professionally, Daniel enjoys assisting with surgery, including preparing the surgical suite. He also enjoys meeting new animals and helping out during spay/neuter days for local shelters.

At home, Daniel has two cats: Gordon Ramsey and a black cat named Void. He also has several Siberian huskies who are sled dogs. In his free time, you will probably find Daniel on his bike, doing either gravel or paved long distance rides. He recently began cycling competitively, and so far, has completed several 100+ mile rides, including a 3-day, 300-mile charity event to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
